Method Platform Updates - July 26, 2013

"July" version now available

The following updates are available on the staging site, as of July 26th.  You can access the July version by clicking "Switch to the July Version" when you sign into Method.

  • Fix - the latest versions of Chrome for Mac caused issues with the Method timer object. We created a code workaround for the live site, and a more permanent solution for the stage site.
  • Fix - the spell checker is back working again after Google shut down the service we were depending on for spell check. An alternative solution has been put in place.
  • Fix - readonly datetime fields were not respecting format settings.
  • Fix - emailing an attachment was not working for attachments assigned to an action result via the Retrieve Value From Table action.
  • Fix - money fields were hardwired to show 2 decimal places rather than what users chose.
  • Fix - dropdown list should filter on paging, only when the dropdown was opened via typing in.
  • Fix - Grid filter fix for dates. As a date "jul-" was breaking for filtering dates using the grid filter row. 2 Issues. 1. jul- should not have broken it, since - is a character we are supposed to handle. 2. If the filter was not a valid date it would not tell the user it is an invalid date, it would just remove it from the filter list and continue on.
  • Fix - If a custom QuickBooks field is used in a grid, then goes to QuickBooks and changes the case of a letter in the name, the field would show up again in the list of fields to be added in a grid.
  • Fix - Added a check in File Upload that if the file being uploaded had a "#" in the name.

Rodolfo Novak joins the Method team

26 July 2013

Method are taking the delivery of user experience very seriously. The position of Vice President of Product is traditionally filled by marketing or project managers, Method however are taking a different approach.

They have just appointed Rodolfo Novak to steer the development of the user experience. Rodolfo is one of the most sought after product strategy specialists in Toronto, Canada. Originally from Brazil, he can boast an impressive    body of work with companies such as  WattPadRipeAppsBMO and AppHero. He explained that he jumped at the chance to join Method because of the unique challenges and hurdles that are associated with creating a CRM platform specifically for small businesses.

One of the first items on the agenda is the upcoming release of the new Method mobile application. Seen as vital to the future of the CRM, Rodolfo said the mobile experience needs to have all the functionality of the desktop without using the same look and feel. There is also a new app store on the horizon that will allow developers to create new functionality and enhance existing features with more ease.

This move is a bold statement of intent by Method. They have shown a willingness to aggressively seek out and tempt the very best talent on the market in order to continue the growth and development of the product, which can only mean good things for small business owners.

The power of 'Tags' within Method CRM

26 July 2013

Tags are a recent addition to the Method CRM offering. Tags provide a potent and dynamic approach to assigning classifications and categories to records.

I can already here people saying....

"But we already had this functionality within Method?"

True, this functionality existed via traditional drop-down menu selections. The difference is that now, with tags, you can assign multiple tags to single records. For example, you could tag a contact with different locations; 'Liverpool', 'Merseyside' and 'North West'. That contact would then appear in any filter rule using any or all of the tags. Tags can also save vital screen-space by lowering the overall amount of custom fields required for certain elements of functionality.

If you're interested in harnessing the power of tags within Method don't hesitate to get in touch. A solution is only a phone call away.
